I have played the original Juiced game and I can tell you now this sequel is a LOT better. One of the unique features in Juiced 2 is, you actually get to create your own character. So if there are any need for speed fans out there wondering what that black silhouette was inside there car in juiced you’ll finally be able to see your character though the window. Who wouldn’t like that extra feature? Anyways…. onto the graphics

Now the cars at first may look a bit weird if your used to the nfs style but they are actually nicely detailed. Each car has its own interior (although some are blander than others.) But overall the graphics of the cars are pretty decent for a ps2-ported title. The characters graphics aren’t to bad either nothing amazing but they look a lot better than your usual ps2 graphics so it’s good enough.

No complaints in this department now because of the ps3 trigger shoulder buttons you’ll be using your R2 to accelerate and L2 to brake.

At first the handling seems very arcade-like but once you get used to it the game play is actually quite fun. The tracks are well designed and the other racers get pretty competitive; part way through. The modding system is nice but some aspects are left out like the ability to put neon’s in and to change your sound system like in the previous juiced but its pretty good overall.

Your usual generic engine sounds here nothing to special and the short track list however suits the game. But the inability to change tracks is a bit of a letdown.

A reasonable length career mode with the addition of online career where the other racers are real opponents.

A decent racing game not a bad choice if your after one. The modding system is good and there is a good choice of cars here. I suggest getting it on some free game downloads because your pretty much getting the same package at a cheaper price, with slightly worse graphics.

Demigod is an attractive game with a unique art style. It’s not the standard Lord of the Rings / Dungeon & Dragons art style. The Demigods are all visually interesting and well animated. The cannon fodder soldiers are fun to watch and slay (minotaurs, angels, etc). Players have complete 360 degree control over the camera with a zoom similar to Supreme Commander, another game from the studio Gas Powered Games. Levels (Arenas) are stunning, each seems to have its own untold story, from Mesopotamian temples to alien prisons. The fiction behind each individual Demigod is entertaining and original.

Now to the negatives. There have been multiplayer connectivity issues during launch. Many of these problems have been solved, eventually I am sure connectivity will be stress-free. The bigger issue is the shallowness of the game. Some will argue that as a multiplayer game with human opponents and different victory conditions, Demigod has replayability. Yet, I found the opposite true. There are only 8 Demigods. There are only 10 levels. There is probably only a couple of dozen weapons and unique items.

This game could have been, should have been, more enjoyable – more levels, more Demigods, an editor to enable player designed levels and weapons, etc. After five or six hours of play, I find my enjoyment has leveled off. Some blogs have reported that DLC is in the works as a downloadable game, but for a full-priced retail game, I expected more at release.

I find Demigod leaves me with the same feeling Space Siege did. Impressive first impressions, strong visuals, strong audio but a vacuous feeling develops the more you play.

The graphics on this game are actually quite interesting. They include weird “2.5″ dimensional slips with exaggerated cell shadings. This causes every course to look like a lunar eclipse is taking place. This can be very confusing and unnerving, considering you can’t even see the course! The backgrounds are pretty good, at least the sky isn’t black on EVERY SINGLE course. Oh wait, yes it is. However, the rain and snow are actually quite detailed. The vehicles look pretty good despite looking strangely off. Don’t ask me what looks wrong with them, something just seems messed up. The profile selection lack some diversity, and would be better if there were more people to choose from when creating your character.

The main sound for this game comes from the music player. This is what got the “mild lyrics” into the games rating. Some of the songs are pretty much junk that I cannot bear to listen to. None of them are anything I would ever dream of listening to over anything I listen to today. At least it lets you choose which of it’s evil songs to hear. You can also adjust the sound effects. get free download bits and such things like that. Overall the music is fairly BLAH for me, due to a poor selection and “unique” background musics. It is made more interesting (not better, but interesting) with “commentary” whenever my character hits something and dies, which is about every 10 seconds. The special effects settings are just a way to make it seem as if you have control over what you hear. I listen to my own music while playing this game.

The gameplay is pretty fair, except how they made the vehicles hard to control to fit their “style”. This was not very smart for Acclaim to do, unless they wanted a single vehicle or two to have drastic pros and cons. However, that is not the case here. The vehicles will eject you if you hit anything when you are going over 20 MPH, which is exceedingly annoying. The aerial tricks involve pressing a stupid combination of buttons simultaneously and hoping it doesn’t wipe you out. Again resulting in death. The tricks are labeled “Combat Moves” to try to get you to become interested with the game. What a joke! They involve kicking in a certain direction for a small range. They also last little time, except for the really high leveled ones, where it takes so long you hit the ground and die. If there’s anyone near that region it will miss. Guaranteed. This really degrades away from their big promotion of “16 awesome combat moves in your arsenal”. Getting points will refill a boost meter, but guess what? If you die that meter will drain by half of it’s full capacity. When you begin to boost you will nearly almost crash immediately upon doing so because of the uncontrollable speed and the fact that you cannot touch anything, therefore losing your boost! Sound helpful? It isn’t helpful in the slightest way imaginable. Take my word for that.

The gameplay is simple, you just control falling blocks. There are six modes. Tetris, for regular Tetris gameplay. There is also ”Fusion Tetris,” in which you also have ”Atom Blocks” to fuse with the main atom block. There is also ”Sticky Tetris” to use multicolored blocks, and, if two blocks are next to each other, and they’re the same color, they’ll connect. But the meaning of this mode is to get rid of ”Garbage Blocks.” Then we have ”Hot-Line Tetris,” ”Square Tetris,” and ”Cascade Tetris.” I’m not explaining, you will have to find out for yourself. You just may say the heck with it and play download free games for pc instead!

Nice and okay graphics. The backgrounds are okay. The backgrounds also evolve through out playing longer. There are different backgrounds. One is a volcano, one’s under the sea, one’s at an iceberg, and there’s also a mountain, a forest, and the sky. Not much here.

Not easy to find, this game was only released in Japan and could be obtained through Sega Direct only. Fortunately, despite the low print run, about 5.000 copies exist, the game found its way to other parts of the world. So is this a new outing? Sadly, that isn’t quite the case. This could best be considered a compilation with most features borrowed from past Vampire games. All in all this game isn’t very extensive; there is the obligatory “Arcade” mode, a “Versus” mode to duke it out with a human foe. There is a “Training” option to hone your skills. An “Option” mode (which is in English for the better part) and lastly, the (now defunct) “Network” mode.

2D is art. Repeat that sentence three times with me. Good. Despite the dull cover art all of your favorite beasties have been included for this iteration. The characters are amazingly fluid, and boast a fair level of detail. Animation has been left intact for a full 100% bringing all of the horrific cast on your screen in undeniable splendor. About the only thing truly missing here would be transparencies used for life gauge and character select screen, amongst others. Looking at the complete picture however that can be forgiven instantly. In the looks department everything is more than okay. Even when you’re not playing it the beautiful 2D animations of the characters dancing across the screen are a sight to behold.

Fitted to accustom with the appearance of the fighters the music is just lovely. Sure, that might lead to one or two stereotypes (like Bishamon’s Japanese flute theme) but with an outlandish assortment of fighters it works very well. The “lighter” characters are accompanied by frolic, up-beat themes while the boss character for instance comes with a tad more ominous one. The effects themselves are done very well; be it a sword that strikes, a laser that blasts, or a kitten that purrs (Felicia!) the execution and timing is spot on. A brief example to attest to this could be when Bishamon pops off his helmet at the end of a bout, clinking on the ground every time it makes contact perfectly to the millionth of a second.

Going to show why this could be perceived as a compilation of sorts is the fact that one can select from three different styles at the beginning of a game. According to which style is chosen certain gameplay aspects get modified to resemble those of the original free games to download they were taken from. The life gauge in “Vampire” lets you take in damage like you would in most Vs. fighting games, restoring the gauge fully the next round. In “Hunter” one slowly regains a portion of their vitality if unharmed for a brief period of time. Lastly there is “Savior” in which any damage taken is carried over to the next round, aching for a more cautious, defensive style of play. If that weren’t enough, next you get to select from one of four different “character types” effectively altering the way characters play and execute their combo’s and EX moves. The three types also used for your fighting style (Vampire, Hunter & Savior) can be selected, with the addition of “Savior 2” type as a fourth. This makes for a good deal of variety and overall lasting appeal to make you come back to the game. Even if there aren’t all that many modes of play incorporated, this can be considered a huge redeeming factor.

The fighting is limited to a single attack button, whereas most of the battles consist of shooting nukes, flames, or throwing other insane stuff found in the arenas at the enemy. The meat of the game still has to do with the famous Power Stones: the first to get a hold of all three of them -six in four-player mode- will morph into a devastating creature, increasingly lowering his opponents’ chances to survive. But this is where the game severely denies what it inherited from its predecessor: not only are the environments interactive and multi-level, they’re also surprisingly large while the screen is in constant motion. Power Stone is, in effect, a hybrid: half party game, half platformer, half beat them up (I couldn’t care less if it makes more than one).

Power Stone 2’s most attractive feature is, without a doubt, the irreplaceable possibility to gather four players around your Dreamcast for some good old-fashioned fun. Only then does this title become really fun, as your friends incessantly fall from the arena or die buried under a rock you’ve just dropped on them. Very much like Super Smash Brothers, PS2 is solely based on the notion of total battle, which I’ll admit is definitely unwinding, but also naturally creates a regrettable feel of chaos and confusion. Moreover, where Power Stone was balanced, PS2 gives an unfair stamina bonus that is not made up for by their slowness to the bigger characters.

There’s no such thing as strategy in this game. No such thing as skill. Mashing the buttons –thank god the controls are perfect- and using anything that can be used as a weapon is almost the only way to survive in this fun but simplistic world. Great for casual gamers, but undoubtedly tedious for the most experienced players, Power Stone 2’s gameplay is double-edged.

The graphics however have what it takes to please everyone out there, from the six-years old brat who claims to be your foreign cousin to your aging grandmother who sees in PS2 an artistic representation of the moral values involved in World War II. The arenas are very detailed and originally designed -the oriental house and the submarine come to mind- although they could have done with more animations.

On the other hand, the characters are cute and charming in spite of their disarmingly simplistic designs. This can be immensely felt through a description of the sole four new characters: Pete the dorky kid, Julia the Princess Peach clone, Accel the hyper cowboy and Gourmand the overweight chef. So cliche, yet so charming. Despite the non-stop mayhem, the engine never slows down, showcasing the underestimated capacities of Sega’s last piece of hardware.

The music is uninspired and reeks of laziness, but it’s extremely well hidden behind first-rate sound effects, limiting its effect on the general quality of the game. The voices (actually, screams seems infinitely more appropriate here) are flawless like the games download full version and capture the peculiar feel of the character design, except for the announcer, who made me feel guilty for playing this game at my advanced age with his tone taken straight from an episode of Barney or Pokemon. Power Stone 2 is a game that doesn’t take itself seriously, as is obviously reflected by the awkward yet technically lamentable soundtrack.

What makes The Maw special? It’s not the sickeningly sweet graphics; rather, it’s the unique gameplay that many claim gives Kirby a run for its money. In The Maw, you control a stereotypical blue alien named Frank, but the real star of the show is your purple, carnivorous sidekick: The Maw. Like Kirby, The Maw can inhale other creatures with ease. Unlike that cutesy series of 2D platformers, The Maw inhabits a 3D plane. Frank controls similarly to heroes of other 3D platformers: the left analog stick moves, the right stick rotates the camera, and you’ll use a face button to jump. Standard stuff, right? Well, this is where things get interesting. In The Maw, you move as Frank, but you also have control of your purple pal via electronic leash. All you have to do is tap the x-button to drag your monstrous friend to wherever your heart desires, or you can summon him through a high-pitched yell if he’s far away. Some games with computer controlled sidekicks have brain-dead AI, but fortunately, The Maw is not one of these.

So, you can move your initially small purple pal, but what else can you do? There are no blasters or beam swords in this sci-fi game. Instead, you’ll search for a healthy lunch. The Maw can eat all kinds of tasty morsels, but since he starts out small, he can initially only eat creatures that he dwarfs. By eating innocent pink puffs (jab at Kirby anyone?) the Maw eventually grows into a monstrous beast (make that a cute monstrous beast) that could easily squash Frank if he were clumsy. Now you’re probably thinking, “So, the Maw grows bigger. So what?” Size does matter, but more importantly, the Maw can inhale creatures that will grant him abilities. The Maw can gain the ability to spew flames, fly for short distances, and can even shoot lasers out of his eye. In Kirby, you’d use moves like this to damage your foes, but The Maw has a different agenda. Instead of filleting your foes, you’ll use your abilities to interact with the environment and solve puzzles. Each level plays out like a course in Mario, Banjo Kazooie or any cutesy full version pc games–you must complete certain tasks before you can reach the exit. There are minor trinkets to collect, but most are optional, and only serve to provide you with achievements.

The Maw’s abilities are fun to use, but how’s the level design? Most levels are short, but sweet like your favorite candy bar, but others seem to never end like that experimental cake you made that has gone untouched for a month. The short levels have simple objectives that provide very little challenge for those who’ve played plenty of games download full version. You’ll spend most of your time inhaling enemies that can be used to pass environmental obstacles. See a tree in the way? Find an enemy engulfed in flames and inhale him. “Hmm…in that state the creature is indigestible.” Next you’ll have to figure out how to douse the enemy. Once you’ve solved that problem, you’ll be ready to barbecue! That’s a relatively simple puzzle, but you’ll also face some mind-benders. Perhaps I was tired while playing, but two levels gave me some trouble. One puzzle involved figuring out how to inflate the Maw like a balloon and pass an electric wall, while another had me trapped in a room with a raging, horned beetle. I eventually solved both puzzles, but it would have been nice if The Maw explained each of your moves. Sometimes, I had the general idea of what to do, but I couldn’t figure out the correct button combination, or was missing one minor step. A tutorial of some sort, or a help system would have helped immensely. Still, The Maw is a relatively short game, so I didn’t gain too many gray hairs.

Having talented level designers is essential, but nice visuals always serve to enhance a package. In this respect, The Maw delivers in spades. Most downloadable games feature rudimentary 2D or 3D graphics (although this is changing), but The Maw delivers an impressive looking 3D world. The environments are massive, with no pop-in, and the colorful visuals look gorgeous in HD. Even though the visual aesthetic isn’t as quite as impressive as Wall-E, it still manages to emanate a Pixar-like vibe. The characters (especially the Maw) look great, and they animate beautifully. The huge environments are also colorful, but the textures aren’t all that impressive when compared with those in retail blockbusters.

Having great animations certainly helped The Maw, because there is no text or voice throughout the entire game. The development team, Twisted Pixel, skimped on voice acting to save money, but they still managed to execute the animation-based story brilliantly. I’m used to playing games with walls of text or voice acting, so it was actually quite refreshing to play a short title where the story was told simply through animations. The story is fairly simple, but the animations are humorous, and get the job done.

The Maw’s animations are quite impressive, but the sound direction leaves something to be desired. Each creature has cutesy little noises that admittedly match the game’s aesthetic, but I didn’t find the soundtrack to be that memorable. It wasn’t that there was anything particularly wrong with it, but the score just didn’t resonate with me as much as the music found in Braid or Castle Crashers. Even so, I’m thankful that Twisted Pixel decided to develop an original score instead of using licensed music.

Most of my time spent with The Maw felt like eating a delicious slice of cake. A little more frosting could have been added, but overall it was an experience that satisfied my rumbling stomach.

First, as players wipe out enemies, the bad guys will leave behind little red orbs, which are absorbed by one’s character, slowly filling a gauge. Once this gauge is full, players will be able to unload super-powered attacks. Also, characters slowly gain experience in battle, and as they get stronger they will learn new attacks, again adding more options to characters’ combat repertoire.

When players aren’t busy cutting down hordes of monsters, they’ll be watching the game’s plot unfold. The basic premise behind Ninety-Nine Nights is that a massive crystal has shattered, causing two huge holes to appear in the world, one white, the other black. Now players have to close them. What should help to add some replay value to the game is that there are several different characters one can play as, each with their own ambitions, and as such, depending on who one plays at, or what one plays, such as full games to download, & the narrative will change accordingly.

While the game certainly doesn’t possess the most well-crafted tale as its background, it’s not the story that will entice gamers to play, and eventually enjoy the hell out of, the first-person shooter Painkiller: Hell Wars. This PC title isn’t the best looking either, but you won’t find many games with as much good-old bloody shooting action from start to finish in downright creepy locales with some of the biggest bosses you’ll find this side of Shadow of Colossus. And Painkiller: Hell Wars also provides a quality online offering that will keep gamers playing after they foray through the single-player hot-and-heavy adventure.

Three titles came to mind when playing Painkiller: Hell Wars. Two, Quake and Hexen, are old-school FPS games that, while aren’t even in the same eternal state when it comes to Painkiller: Hell Wars’ graphics, have the same medieval, earthen-colored starkness and dark and dreadful creepy corners as their environmental aura as does Painkiller: Hell Wars. Another game, Serious Sam, has the same style of killing-wave-after-wave-of-enemies gameplay that you’ll encounter amongst the hellish denizens of Lucifer in Painkiller: Hell Wars.

You’ll get to disperse them with a handful of the usual weapons found in all of the free pc games download kids play online, including a shotgun and rocket launcher. But there are also a few unique brands of weaponry, including your basic weapon, the painkiller, which uses a slice-and-dice rotating blade apparatus to dispense those unlucky enough to feel its steel returned into the eternal flames.

Each creature you kill releases a soul. Collect 33 souls, and Garner briefly transforms into a powerful demon of destruction himself that pounds his way through any in his path, yet another way to send those pesky enemies back to the hell-insert evil laugh here!

Gale of Darkness revolves around a bunch of Shadow Pokémon that have had “their hearts closed” and are being controlled by an evil syndicate to accomplish some dark plan and it falls to you to open their hearts by “purifying” them. If the setup reminds you of the Carebears, this should immediately alert you to the kind of saccharine, ultra kid-friendly situations and plot lines. And I played all 20 sweet hours of Gale of Darkness to come to that conclusion.

As mentioned, you play a talented Pokémon trainer who’s tasked with snagging the Shadow Pokémon and putting them through an excruciating “purification” process, which – besides the ubiquitous Pokémon battles – is the nub of Gale of Darkness. The story itself is so straightforward – the hand-holding practically eliminates any chance of getting lost – that you’ll start to yearn for the free-roaming sensibility of the GBA versions. Yes, the GBA games have goals and there are missions to complete but you could always play full version games free or just wander off into the undergrowth looking for wild Pokémon. There are only three – a whole three! – areas that can be explored to any extent. Gale of Darkness seems to have pushed the free roam options to the side in order to make room for some extremely long Pokémon battles that sometimes verge on boredom producing.

What I really like about Pokémon games is that you have to be on the ball in order to achieve victory since one or two mistakes almost guaranteed a loss. In some of Gale of Darkness’s later battles against high level Pokémon I never felt the same kind of pressure – I could make a few mistakes and still feel confident of a win.
